This afternoon, the ground floor of ‘t Brughuis in Matexi’s ‘4 Fonteinen’ development was purchased. This 2000m² commercial space, together with 80 parking spaces, is leased to Albert Heijn with a multi-year commercial lease contract.
Matexi, the city of Vilvoorde and the Vlaamse Waterweg are building a neighbourhood at this location where living, working, living and relaxing click seamlessly together. The old Canal Zone will thus become an attractive residential area. The arrival of Albert Heijn fits in perfectly with this. A new neighbourhood needs a supermarket that can respond to the needs of residents and passers-by. The store will not only be a great shopping place for future residents and people who live and work in this neighbourhood, but also for everyone who lives in the nearby neighbourhood of Broek. Furthermore, the store is easily accessible on foot, by bike and by car. Matexi is currently putting the finishing touches on ‘t Brughuis, in which Albert Heijn will open its doors from mid-June.
In addition to Albert Heijn, there will be many other neighbourhood support functions, such as a pharmacy and the GO! Tangram, which will open its doors to 240 students in September. De Kruitfabriek is a creative mix of start-ups, events, a crèche, a bicycle repair shop, and so much more. And across the road from Albert Heijn, the new De Molens park will be built, and the site will soon be connected, thanks to a brand new bicycle and pedestrian bridge, with the Domein 3 Fonteinen. CEO Stefan De Bock is satisfied: “With this purchase, we are once again strengthening our growing portfolio of supermarket real estate with around 2000 m² in the region near Brussels. Albert Heijn was not yet present in this region. We are convinced that this will be a top supermarket and wish Albert Heijn every success with their new store. Due to our planned expansion in the Netherlands, it looks like we will be working even more together in the future.”
