This afternoon Forum Estates NV purchased a cluster of three newly built stores in the Pareinpark in Beveren: a branch of Jumbo, Kruidvat and Yess!.
The building has a total ground surface of 3,643 m² on a site of 10,049 m². There are 131 parking spaces, an unloading quay of 125 m² and some 739 m² of green space. Jumbo leases the largest area of the cluster (2,400 sqm) for a term of 18 years, Yess! and Kruidvat lease 1,200 m² and 400 m² respectively. The Jumbo supermarket and Kruitvat opened their doors in the meantime. Yess! will follow at the beginning of March. This store is the first Jumbo store in East-Flanders.
Jumbo Supermarkets is a Dutch family business and has existed for over 95 years. Jumbo has over 650 Jumbo stores in the Netherlands and now has 8 stores in Belgium. Jumbo is strongly committed to customer experience and competitive prices. The Jumbo management has an ambitious expansion plan in Belgium.
CEO of Forum Estates ‘Stefan De Bock’: “We are very pleased to welcome Jumbo to our fast-growing portfolio of supermarket real estate. Their rapid expansion and store concept make them ‘The New Kid on the Block’ in the supermarket landscape in Flanders. So it could not be missing from our supermarket portfolio. Moreover, I welcome Yess! which is a good e-commerce resistant trigger on this retail cluster due to their store concept.”
CFO of Forum Estates Elke Krols added: ‘With this acquisition, Forum Estates significantly increases its annual rental income, which is now close to 20 million euros on an annual basis. In addition, this acquisition strengthens Forum Estates’ solid e-commerce and pandemic resistant supermarket portfolio!’
